Mens titanium wedding bands are known to have very high tensile strength, so there is a concern with removing it by breaking the ring if any unforeseen accidents happen.
Commercially pure CP grades titanium has very high tensile strength. While CP1 to CP3 grades of titanium may still be manageable, CP4 grades of titanium wedding bands may not be able to be easily removed using conventional tools. Motorized tools are needed to break through the ring; although these tools are readily available at home centers, they may not be readily found at a hospital when needed.
When ultra high strength titanium alloy is used, cutting through the ring poses even greater difficulty. Cutting a high strength titanium alloy wedding bands can be done using standard jewelry ring cutters, which are available in the industry, but again, not necessarily in hospitals.
In particular, one should take care to avoid having to take off their mens titanium wedding bands via forced removal. So before any heavy duty or risky activity such as working with heavy machinery, it is better to simply remove your wedding band and keep it somewhere safe before starting.
But in the unfortunate event that your ring finger is injured, you should quickly remove your wedding band before your finger starts to swell. If that is not possible, you should immediately take steps to prevent or reduce swelling of the finger by cooling the injured area with cold water or ice packs.
Raising your arm overhead also helps to lead blood flow away from the finger and further reduce swelling. Use any lubricant available, like soap, oil or even saliva on the finger and try to remove the mens titanium wedding band again.
If forced removal by cutting of the titanium band is required, then please make sure you follow the advice of the medical professionals on the removal. Conditions and options for such a procedure differ greatly from place to place; we do not presume to be qualified experts to give advice on medical procedures.
